Inpatients of Toowong Private Hospital can expect the very best in mental health care and personalised service and attention.
To be granted admission to Toowong Private Hospital, all patients must be
referred for treatment. Our referral requirements are outlined in our referral
On or soon after your admission, a nurse will be assigned to care for you. Your nurse, in collaboration with you, your treating psychiatrist and other mental health professionals who are assisting you in your recovery, will prepare a personalised care plan. The plan will outline the purpose of your admission; it will also facilitate your treatment and allow you to work towards achieving your goals.
Your care plan will outline your treatment options, which may include a medication strategy, Tailored Therapy sessions, individual counselling, or Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT). Your participation and cooperation in complying with your care plan will assist you in your recovery.
Our Tailored Therapy Program is delivered by a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals that includes nurses, occupational therapists, psychologists and social workers. The TPH Tailored Therapy Program is designed to address specific mental health needs through psyhoeducation and behaviourally focussed groups.
ECT may be a recommended treatment option you have discussed with your psychiatrist. If referred for ECT you will be provided with ample information allowing you to make an informed decision to consent to receive this treatment. ECT may be performed either as an inpatient or day patient. If you do have any concerns, please discuss these with your psychiatrist or nurse.
